Tonight’s RAW opens up with a memoriam for WWE Hall of Famer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who passed away at the age of 73 this weekend.
We go right to the ring and out comes RAW General Manager Kurt Angle. He’s happy because No Mercy is this Sunday. He hypes Roman Reigns vs. John Cena and Braun Strowman vs. WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. That’s not all… the music interrupts and out comes WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. Maryse is not here tonight.
Angle makes a four-way number one contender’s match for tonight, to which Miz says you want to give a bad guitar player or the Hardyz a shot, great, but there are countless superstars more deserving than Jason Jordan, like Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. They’ve been working hard for years and what do they get? He rails at Jordan for being rewarded for nothing and Kurt says he’s tired of the whining but hopes fatherhood changes Miz.
Miz tells him not to lecture him about fatherhood, since he walked out, but the A-Lister will be there from day one, a better father or champion than the Olympic gold medalist ever was. Miz should be his priority, the Miztourage should be his priority, but he’s abandoning his duties as Raw GM. You can always count on Kurt Angle to be a deadbeat! Kurt stares him down–
Enter Jason Jordan, the biological son of Kurt Angle. He yanks the mic out of Miz’s hands and says if he says another word about his dad he’ll knock his teeth down his throat. Miz holds his boys back, and Jordan has a suggestion– he wants Dallas and Axel in the #1 contender’s match, so Miz doesn’t have any excuses when they wrestle at No Mercy.
Angle makes it so, and Miz points out that more people means less of a chance of winning, and Jordan’s more incompetent than his father. This leads to a double leg takedown on the A-Lister but the Miztourage pull him off and he runs them out of the ring in turn, his dad holding him back from doing anything further.
Michael Cole hypes up a hot seat segment with Lesnar and Strowman, and Corey Graves tells us the Big Dog is in the shark tank to deliver his final message to the ace of WWE. Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss are walking backstage, their match will be after the break.
Back from commercial, Jason Jordan is pacing backstage when Kurt Angle rolls up and tells him to calm down and focus on the opportunity he has tonight. Jason fumes and says Miz has been talking bad about him for weeks, and he’s not dumb, he sees the whispers and the looks, and when he beats Miz, they’ll stop.
Angle asks what if that doesn’t work, does he beat everybody up one by one? They’re gonna talk about them, but sometimes it takes more strength not to fight back. His blood courses through Jordan’s veins and he knows what he can do, and if he wants to change things, he wins this match, goes on to No Mercy, and he wins that Intercontinental Championship.

The Miz is in the locker room with his lads. He says they have a chance to silence their critics and stick it to Kurt Angle. Goldust goes on about how they have known each other for 20 years and how Angle knew his dad. Goldust is asking Angle for the match as a friend, to show Wyatt that he’s not some pawn in Wyatt’s war with Finn Balor. Angle eventually grants the match. Goldust thanks him and they shake hands. Goldust says tonight, Wyatt will never forget the name… Dustin Rhodes. Goldust walks off but comes back to do his Goldust snarl.

We go to the ring and Curt Hawkins has a mic. Normally he would be out here making stars but he’s come to a tough decision… his Star Factory is closed. But he’s replacing it with Curt Hawkins’ History Machine. He says we will witness history tonight when his 114 match losing streak comes to an end. Braun says he’s going to do more than that, he’s going to burn Suplex City down. Braun says none of that matters because the ball is in his court, he’s pulling the strings and he’s making the decisions. Braun says they can run their mouths all they want but it won’t change what will happen on Sunday. Heyman interrupts and wonders why Cole is asking so many questions of the challenger. Roman Reigns Segment
Roman Reigns makes his entrance. He takes a long beat to soak in the atmosphere before beginning, saying he’s said it before (and he’d boo it, too), that John Cena might be the best talker ever… but sometimes he says stupid shit. Like trying to say he’s the next John Cena. Does he look like a jacked up white guy with a giant head and a military crew cut?
Nah, if he did he wouldn’t have a career here! Don’t believe him, ask Alex Riley about that. And when he says something, he means it, like how John is a fake-ass bitch. But also, he’s the biggest hypocrite to step foot in a WWE ring, and if you don’t believe him, he’ll tell you himself.
Roman rolls video of a Cena promo from 2012 running the Rock down for leaving WWE for Hollywood time and again and presenting himself as someone who will never leave. He then asks San Jose if they should bring Cena out, and they cheer, but that’s not loud enough because John isn’t here. So everything he said there was a lie, just talk, and that’s why the result at No Mercy is gonna be the same as it was at WrestleMania 28, just Cena will be beaten by a different Samoan.
He tells John he’ll see him Sunday and drops the mic.
Backstage with the Hardy Boyz

Following after, coming off the apron but Wyatt catches him with a punch to the gut and a headbutt before breaking the count and throwing Dustin face-first into the barricade. Rhodes fighting back, returning the favor and whipping him hard into the steps!
Flying bulldog follows into mounted punches to the back of the head as referee Shawn Bennett counts. Bray runs him over with a headbutt, back inside but Rhodes has his wits about him and keeps throwing hands, setting him up in the corner… SHATTERED DREAMS, HIGH BUT LEGAL! ANOTHER ON THE OTHER SIDE!
Coming off the ropes, but Bray catches him with Sister Abigail for the win.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Finn Balor appears on the Titantron and begins telling Bray a story about a little kid who was alone and different with books about mythology. Eventually that boy became a man, and discovered a way to control his pain, anger, and rage, manifesting it just like those gods and monsters in those books. That man created a demon, and now he wants to ask a very important question–
If the demon is a creation of the man, which one is more dangerous? At No Mercy, he’s going to find out.

Baseball slide misses, pop-up gamengiri on the apron and choking him on the inside.
Back outside, nearly tearing Gran’s mask off his face and he’s fired up, throwing punches hard in return. A kick from the apron, another missile dropkick, Neville outside… BRILLO METALIK! Tossing the champion back in, climbing up top, he walks the ropes for a crossbody splash… NO GOOD!
